Community guidelines

Encinitas Forum works when people share honest, first-hand, useful information. These guidelines apply to everyone, including the Encinitas Forum team.

1. Be neighborly

Assume good faith. Disagree with ideas, not people. No harassment, threats, hate speech or personal attacks.

2. Speak from experience

Say whether you’ve actually used a service. Only post reviews of things you experienced yourself. Don’t post on someone else’s behalf.

3. Disclose connections

If you own, work for, are related to, or are paid by a business you mention, say so in the same post.

4. No promotion, spam or fake accounts

No paid posts, affiliate links, review swaps, fake reviews or multiple accounts. Business owners may answer questions about their own business with clear disclosure.

5. Protect privacy

Don’t post private people’s home addresses, phone numbers, license plates, or photos and names of children. For lost and found pets, give a general area.

6. Cite sources for facts

For claims about laws, rules, fees, hours or dates, link to the primary source.

7. Know what a forum is for

Emergencies go to 911. Posts here aren’t legal, medical or financial advice.

8. Moderation

Posts that break these guidelines may be edited or removed, and repeat offenders may lose posting access once accounts exist.
